“The acquisition of Desert Canyon Rehabilitation Hospital is an important acquisition for HealthSouth,” said HealthSouth President and CEO, Jay Grinney. “It complements our existing presence in Las Vegas and signals a renewed emphasis on disciplined growth through acquisitions that will bring additional value to our shareholders.”
“In a relatively short period of time Desert Canyon Rehabilitation Hospital has earned an outstanding reputation in southwest Las Vegas. We look forward to building on this reputation and welcome the hospital and staff into our network,” said Jerry Gray, president of the West Region for HealthSouth.
This will be HealthSouth’s third rehabilitation hospital location in Las Vegas, joining HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Henderson and HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Las Vegas. HealthSouth also operates a long-term acute care hospital, HealthSouth Hospital of Tenaya, and a home health agency in Henderson.
The closing of the transaction is subject to certain state and federal regulatory approvals and is expected to take place late in the second quarter of 2010. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
