Justin Hunter is senior vice president, public policy, legislation and regulations. Hunter is based in Washington, D.C., and represents the company before Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Prior to joining Encompass Health, formerly HealthSouth, in 2004, Hunter practiced law in the Washington, D.C., firm of Powers, Pyles, Sutter, and Verville, where he was engaged in a healthcare practice involving a range of legal, regulatory, and legislative issues. Hunter previously worked on Capitol Hill for former Congressman Ed Bryant (R-TN), and has worked in and managed a number of grassroots and political campaigns. He also served as a legal clerk for Memphis, Tennessee – based Methodist HealthCare during law school. Hunter earned a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1992 from Mississippi State University and a law degree from The University of Memphis in 2000. A native Missourian, Hunter and his wife Caroline reside in Washington, D.C with their two daughters.
