Dina Walker began her career at Encompass Health in 2016 as a regional director of case management and assumed the role of national case management director in 2018. She oversees case management documentation and processes, discharge planning, utilization review processes and the readmission avoidance program for the Encompass Health network of over 150 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals.
Dina is passionate about supporting case management staff by helping them achieve their full potential, advance their degree, grow professionally, gain experience and obtain case management certification.
Dina received her undergraduate nursing degree from Troy University and holds a master’s degree in nursing leadership and administration. She has been a registered nurse for over 30 years. The bulk of her clinical background is in cardiac critical care. In addition to critical care, Dina has healthcare experience in outpatient care, clinical informatics, legal nurse consulting and in the physician practice setting.
She has held many leadership roles including managing both inpatient and outpatient clinical departments and leading multiple facets of case management for a large Medicare Advantage insurance company. Dina regularly speaks on topics that impact case managers at national case management conferences. She is a certified case manager and is based at Encompass Health’s Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama.
