Mike Bartell, CEO of Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Shelby County and Encompass Health Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital, recently joined Talk of Alabama to discuss the Birmingham Heart Walk taking place on Saturday, March 11th at Railroad Park. The goal of the Birmingham Heart Walk is to raise funds and awareness for local heart disease and stroke research and programs. Through events like the Heart Walk, the American Heart Association was able to fund nearly $7 million in research in the state of Alabama last year. The Heart Walk also encourages healthy lifestyle changes through increasing physical activity, eating healthy, and lowering blood pressure.
