Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Parkersburg opening 29 new private rooms, adds new services to support community need

Last updated:

This month, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Parkersburg has opened 29 new private rooms to treat patients in need of a hospital-level of care for rehabilitation services. The hospital located at 3 Western Hills Drive will now include 45 beds with 29 private rooms and eight semi-private rooms.

The hospital will also undergo a full renovation and add new services in a three-phase construction project, allowing the hospital to remain fully functional until its completion by the end of 2023. Upon the completion of the renovation, the hospital will be equipped with 50 private rooms, two new bariatric rooms and an in-house dialysis suite. In addition, all existing areas of the hospital will be renovated, including resurfacing of the parking lot and a new courtyard.

“Since opening in 1995, Encompass Health of Parkersburg has helped more than 29,000 patients gain greater confidence and independence to return to the people and activities they love most. Our hospital has served as a pillar in the care continuum for those who need rehabilitation after a serious illness and injury, and this expansion will allow us to meet the needs of more individuals with additional beds and services,” said Nathan Ford, CEO of Encompass Health of Parkersburg “We are honored that so many patients choose our hospital for their rehabilitation needs, and we look forward to continuing to serve individuals in the Parkersburg community and beyond for many years to come.”

The hospital serves patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes, amputations, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other complex neurological and orthopedic conditions. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation team includes physicians, registered nurses, case managers, and dieticians, who combine the latest technologies and individualized treatment plans to help patients progress toward independence. Patients receive at least three hours of therapy five days per week.

Encompass Health of Parkersburg plans to host an open house of the newly expanded and renovated hospital in late 2023, once all construction is complete.

The hospital has received The Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval for disease-specific certification for stroke rehabilitation. For more information about Encompass Health of Parkersburg hospital, programs and services, visit encompasshealth.com/parkersburgrehab.
