After working for 13 years as a physical therapist at Sentara Healthcare, Tiffany Atkins, PT, MPT, began her career at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of North Virginia in 2021.
Atkins found a passion for patient care in high school while volunteering at an outpatient therapy clinic as a sitter. It was her individual experiences during recovery from an injury that prompted her desire to pursue a career in physical therapy.
In her role, Atkins advocates for the well-being of patient’s health and diligently strives to maximize recovery through specialized treatment and inpatient connectedness.
With her commitment to help increase patient’s quality of life, Atkins is dedicated to developing treatments plans and utilizing innovative technology to maximize recovery. Her goal is for patients to leave with improved lifestyle management and educational support. Therapy programs are implemented to combine hospital level care with physical, occupational and speech therapies depending on the patient needs for recovery.
Education/Training: Atkins earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Saint Louis University in physical therapy.
Professional Associations/Affiliations: Atkins wears many hats as a representative for the Encompass brain injury committee, STOP hospital champion and AOTA committee member.
Personal Note: In her spare time, Atkins enjoys spending time with her two kids and dog. She is a champion for horseback riding and swimming as way to relax and stay in shape year-round.
