BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Aug. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — HealthSouth (NYSE: HLS) announces the realignment of its hospitals into six regions and names Edward Mowen, former controller of HealthSouth’s MidAtlantic region, as a new regional president.
“Our development plans are accelerating as expected and, to maintain our clinical and operational focus while positioning the Company for future expansion, we are realigning our hospitals and adding a new region to our organizational infrastructure,” said HealthSouth President and Chief Executive Officer Jay Grinney. “Ed Mowen has been promoted to the position of Regional President for our newly-configured MidAtlantic Region and will have operational responsibility for 14 hospitals located in South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Ed has made significant contributions during his tenure as regional controller and I am confident he will continue to provide outstanding leadership in his new role.”
Mowen joined HealthSouth as a regional controller in 2005. Prior to his career at HealthSouth, he was vice president of operations for the Women’s Health division at Matria Healthcare, and worked with Promina Northwest and Promina Paulding as controller and CFO, respectively. Mowen holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.
The Company also announced the remaining five regions will be realigned as follows:
Frank Brown will be the President of the Southwest Region and will have responsibility for 19 hospitals located in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
Jerry Gray will be the President of the West Region and will have responsibility for 14 hospitals located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah.
Peter Mantegazza will be the President of the Northeast Region and will have responsibility for 17 hospitals in Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Terry Maxhimer will be the President of the Central Region and will have responsibility for 16 hospitals, 15 of which are located in Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee. He also will have responsibility for the company’s hospital in Bristol, Virginia because of this hospital’s close proximity to the company’s hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Linda Wilder will be the President of the Southeast Region and will have responsibility for 17 hospitals located in Alabama, Florida and Puerto Rico.
All changes will be effective September 1, 2011.
