Press Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Nov. 19, 2019) – The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Alabama-Mississippi Chapter is pleased to announce that Birmingham-based Encompass Health Corp. was recognized during its annual Leadership Conference in Atlanta for their outstanding commitment toward creating a world free of MS.

Over the years, Encompass Health has donated more than $1 million to the National MS Society. Their generous gifts have helped to fund cutting-edge research and local programs and services to help people affected by MS live their best lives.

“We are, as always, grateful to have such an engaged partner in Encompass Health,” said Andrew Bell, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s president of the Alabama-Mississippi Chapter. “Their support over the years have helped us move closer to our goal of creating a world free of MS.”

The Society’s annual Leadership Conference recognizes and celebrate volunteers, activists, researchers, healthcare professionals and, most importantly, people living with MS from across the country.

“At Encompass Health, we share a vision with the MS Society of helping people live their best lives despite challenges that result from a disability,” said Mark Tarr, president and CEO of Encompass Health and former member of the board of trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Alabama-Mississippi Chapter. “We are honored to be a champion of the cause not just by helping patients with MS reach their greatest potentials through our rehabilitation services, but also by financially supporting the research and resources needed to discover solutions for MS patients.”
