EVANSVILLE, Ind., Sept. 13, 2019 – On Sept. 12, Deaconess Health System and Birmingham, Alabama-based Encompass Health celebrated the opening of the new location for Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital. The new hospital, located at 9355 Warrick Wellness Trail in Newburgh, will begin serving patients on Sept. 15 and will replace the current location at 4100 Covert Avenue.
Remarks were provided by Blake Bunner, CEO of Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital; Troy DeDecker, president of the Encompass Health’s central region; and Shawn McCoy, CEO of Deaconess Health System.
“We are excited for this new chapter for Encompass Health Deaconess Rehabilitation Hospital,” said Bunner. “This space is designed with our patients’ needs in mind and will be a place where they find hope and confidence after a life-altering illness or injury. My team and I are excited about a new location with superior technologies and all private rooms.”

The new hospital features 80 private patient rooms, dialysis suite, spacious therapy gym, in-house pharmacy, courtyard, dining room and dayroom areas. It will continue to offer comprehensive physical, occupational and speech therapies, in addition to 24-hours nursing care and frequent physician visits. The services will complement those provided by local healthcare leader Deaconess Health System for patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes, amputations, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and complex orthopedic conditions. Encompass Health Deaconess will continue to operate the 18-bed satellite hospital located on the fourth floor of Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
