Encompass Health plans to build a freestanding, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on Millicent Way in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Supporting the Company’s strategic focus on sustained growth, the hospital, which is expected to open in the summer of 2021, will care for patients recovering from a variety of debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions.

“We look forward to expanding our care in Louisiana through this new, state-of-the-art hospital,” said Brad Kennedy, president of Encompass Health’s south central region. “Through this new location, our team will provide residents of Shreveport and the surrounding areas with access to high-quality, rehabilitative care that is set apart by Encompass Health’s intensive, individualized therapy and advanced technologies.”

The Company previously announced future openings of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in markets across the country to meet expected demand for services as the U.S. population ages. It’s existing Louisiana footprint includes an inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Alexandria, a home health and hospice location in Covington and a hospice location in Vidalia.
