Preventing Workplace Violence in Healthcare

Research & Resources
Last updated:

Across the healthcare industry, providers have assumed for years that workplace violence was just part of the job, something to be endured. At Encompass Health, we know that doesn’t mean healthcare workers should be expected to tolerate violent behavior in the workplace. In this episode of EHC Today, Lynne Lee, vice president of risk management, describes what workplace violence looks like in a hospital setting and how it can be prevented.

If you experience or see a workplace violence event, be sure to report it through RL Solutions and your hospital-specific process. Home Office employees can alert their manager or human resources. The risk management team carefully reviews every incident to ensure appropriate action is taken and help build practices to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
