Encompass Health has placed land under contract and plans to build a freestanding, 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Clermont, Florida, to be named Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Clermont.
“This future hospital will help support the growing need for intensive rehabilitation services provided in a hospital setting in the Clermont area,” said Linda Wilder, president of Encompass Health’s southeast region. “As Clermont’s population continues to grow, this hospital will allow for individuals to receive exceptional rehabilitative care closer to home after a life-altering illness or injury. We look forward to supporting the needs of the community and becoming an integral provider in Clermont’s growing healthcare system.”
Complementing local acute care services, the hospital will care for patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions. The hospital will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies that aim to restore functional ability and quality of life and 24-hour care by registered nurses, many of whom are certified in rehabilitation nursing.
The medical staff will be comprised of physicians experienced in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as other specialties such as internal medicine, cardiology, infectious disease and nephrology to assist in the medical management and support a complex patient population.
The planned hospital, once opened, will become part of Encompass Health’s national network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and home health and hospice agencies. It will feature all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym with advanced rehabilitation technologies and an activities of daily living suite, cafeteria, dining room, pharmacy and therapy courtyard.
A construction timeline for the new hospital has not yet been established.
This announcement aligns with Encompass Health’s strategy to grow its national network to reach more of those in need of rehabilitative and home health and hospice care.
The Company’s development pipeline includes previously announced future openings of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in markets across the country. The Florida portfolio currently includes 12 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, a hospital under construction in north Tampa, land purchases in Pensacola, St. Augustine and Lakeland for future development, and 19 home health locations.
